The One Minute Farbringen

Surf and Soul's "One Minute Farbringen"
Parshat Ekev

We're constantly asked, "why don't you start an international organization of joggers or tennis players? Why single out surfers? Interestingly enough, part of the answer omes from our weekly Tora portion. In the Midrash (Dvarim Raba), we find the following: "Our sages said : come and see! All the miracles that Hashem made (in connection with the Exodus) were by means of water. Exactly how was that? Through the Nile, by the parting of the Red Sea (Psalms: "the sea watched and fled" Ps. 114), changing the bitter desert water to sweet water, Miriam's well,..." ( by miraculously providing as acqueduct for each tribe, etc., etc.)

We find the Passage: "Behold, today you are crossing the Jordan River (Dvarim 9-1)" Those of you who've seen the Jordan River know that it's really not a river at all; a stream would be a better term. But like the once popular hit, "...the river flows, it flows to the sea, where that river flows, is where I want to be...", we see the eternal cycle of our history and its connection to the water of life!
